GARAGE DOOR TIPS

1. Avoiding Injury. Inform all household members that you will be working on the garage door(s) to be pro-active and avoid potential injury.  It is also a good idea to Adopt the “Buddy System” when working on the garage doors for convenience and safety. 
2. Monthly Visual Inspections-It is good practice to visually inspect your garage doors; springs, lift cables, photo eyes, pulleys & tracks.  Look for any fraying wires, listen for any unusual sounds, inspect hinges & pulleys for damage.
3. Photo Eye Testing-Photo eyes/Safety Sensors are your garage doors safety assurance to prevent and or alert you to potentially dangerous situations.  To perform this test, ensure the garage door is open.  Hit the remote or wall button to start to close the door.  Have a long handle object that you can wave in the path of the photo eyes beam.  The door should automatically reverse and start to go back up. If this does not happen, call your garage door dealer for service    
4. Annual Preventative Maintenance-It is beneficial to schedule annual preventative maintenance to ensure your garage door(s) and operator(s) are in good working order prior to the winter season or summer season.

Door Balance Test-Engage the pull chord to put the operator on manual.  Open & close the door manually to ensure that the door goes up smoothly and lightly and goes down smoothly and lightly as well.
